So much is fucked in the world right now. So much needs to be tended. So many of us are in a baseline state of exhaustion and inflammation as all that we can no longer ignore is coming to the surface. We need a space to rest together. To touch that place of silence and stillness from which we can sense the actual pulse of our aliveness, the wisdom of the deeper support that is always present within us.
This month, I am co-weaving with a group of witchy practitioners to create a week-long virtual cauldron for holding us in this alchemical process: The Midwinter Mundane Magic Nadir
This gathering is the opposite of a "summit."
Deep rest within primordial darkness.
A supported journey through the death portal of midwinter.
Dreaming in the lap of the Crone.
While the landscape of healing and personal growth is booming with opportunities for altered states, peak experiences, and epic journeys, we often act like these experiences are totally set apart from everyday reality. Last year, inspired by the timeless wisdom of an internet meme (“everyone wants to do ayahuasca but no one wants to do the dishes"), a group of us witchy practitioners joked about making a conference about the boring, practical parts of spirituality—and Mundane Magic was born.
Mundane Magic is an act of anarchic alchemy to integrate our relationship to Mystery alongside folding laundry, exchanging soup recipes, and other ordinary intimacies of daily life.
We’ve curated the arc of this year’s program in deep devotion to the spirit of the season, with offerings from our incredible coven of 13 practitioners including energetic and magical teachings, practices in "advanced wintering," an introduction to ancestral keens and lullabies from an Irish Gaelic songcarrier, and a multi-modal somatic journey process to slough off all that is ready to shed and return to the core in this time of midwinter.
One of the things that makes this gathering different is that we are holding communal resting and integration time to be as important as the deep dive immersions. Throughout the gathering, we will be punctuating the main event with improvisational Hearthtimes, emergent chill spaces with the option to wander through multiple zoom rooms experiencing embodiment practices, conversation spaces, and parallel resting vibes. Each night of the event will end with a bedtime story.
Bring your body to this space of holding in which you can lay down your bones with a great sigh, really feeling yourself supported within a wider context of belonging.
Join us January 22-26th at the Midwinter Mundane Magic Nadir.
Come gift yourself this week of accompaniment to delve deep into the winter dreaming and touch the intimacy of your own aliveness.
